Physics2 was recorded by Physics, Tom Wolf, and Steve Pagan at the Hypno Loft in downtown San Diego the summer of 1996 using a 16 track ADAT.
Engineered by Tom Wolf and Physics
tracks 4 and 5 recorded live
Mixed by Jason Soares, John Goff and Rob Crow
Mastered by Jason Soares
Track one: Positive Heterodyne - Constucted on the computer by offsetting the left and right signals of a tone starting at 10,000 Hz rising to 20,000 Hz and then down to 0 Hz.
Track two:

Delayed Drone - After the main theme has been set, the underlying synth rhythm is brought to the top and split into two signals which go there own way and create a new focus for attention. Added to the beginning of the track are 16,000 Hz tones and 30 Hz tones at the end. Playing on this are Lee Chapman (Drums), JFRE Robot Co.(Synthesizer), Rob Crow (Guitar), John Goff (Guitar), Will Goff (Synthesizer) and Jason Soares (Guitar).
Track three:

Wave File Three - Was originally just 2 synth tracks and drums. Multiple tracks were then later added by Rob Crow and Jason Soares and put into a cohesive pattern.
Track four:
Level 2 Part A - The first half of a live 35 minute piece consisting of 3 themes. This track was recorded sometime between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. at a studio behind the Belly up Tavern in Solana Beach. Theme one consists of a repeating and slightly changing paterns played by 2 guitars with a 3rd guitar against it. Theme 2 is characterized by a 2 chord pattern played by all the guitars. Playing on this are Lee Chapman (Drums), JFRE Robot Co.(Synthesizer), Rob Crow (Guitar), John Goff (Guitar), Will Goff (Synthesizer) and Jason Soares (Guitar).
Track five:
Level 2 Part B - The second half of a live 35 minute piece consisting of 3 themes. This last half is started by the arpeggator mode on the juno 60 by Jeff Coad which is played against for the first half of the track. The second half was completely improvised on the spot. Three short wave radio tracks were added later at the transition, each was tuned to a different note to create a chord. Playing on this are Lee Chapman (Drums), JFRE Robot Co.(Synthesizer), Rob Crow (Guitar), John Goff (Guitar), Will Goff (Synthesizer) and Jason Soares (Guitar).
Track six:
- Was originally just 2 synth tracks and drums. Multiple track were then later added and put into a cohesive pattern. On most of the tracks we used a delay which was set up to be in time with the song. Playing on this are Lee Chapman (Drums), JFRE Robot Co.(Synthesizer), Rob Crow (Guitar) and Pea Hicks (Synthesizer).
Track seven:
Proper - Physics proper uses the standard "Physics Chord" which we used to play for most of our earlier shows. This track starts about 7 minutes into a jam which it was edited down from. Half way through the track we put the snare drum through a delay pedal and changed the delay time while recording it to another track. We also put another track though a panning effect and played that in realtime also. Later it was cross faded together with Neutralogue. Playing on this are Lee Chapman (Drums), JFRE Robot Co.(Synthesizer), Rob Crow (Guitar), John Goff (Guitar), Will Goff (Synthesizer) and Jason Soares (Guitar).
Track eight:
Neutralogue - This track uses an analog sequencer controling a Roland MS-20 playing a 8 note sequence against a 9 note sequence which switches on the first beat by the Roland Juno 60. In the middle of the track was inserted a recording of birds recorded at the entrance to the Carlsbad Caverns. Playing on this are Lee Chapman (Drums), JFRE Robot Co.(Synthesizer), Rob Crow (Guitar), John Goff (Guitar), Will Goff (Synthesizer) and Jason Soares (Guitar).
Track nine: Negative Heterdyne - Constucted on the computer by offsetting the left and right signals of a tone starting at 0 Hz rising to 20,000 Hz and then down to 10,000 Hz.
